South Hill Little League offers softball programs for girls at the tee ball, minors, majors and juniors levels. Evaluations are held each year for all drafted levels of play to help determine each players overall skill and aptitude, and to ensure each player is properly placed at the correct level.

Tee Ball Division - Ages 4-6:  No Evaluations - No Draft

• Beginning level for boys and girls
• Basic fundamentals (bases, throwing, catching, hitting from tee, field positioning)
• All players bat each inning
• No strikeouts or recorded scoring
• No stealing, No sliding, No leading off
• Defense teams shall play with all players in the field
• 9” safety “T” ball is used

Coach Pitch - Ages 6-8:   No Evaluations - No Draft

• Initial concepts of softball with some progression to more complex concepts
• Emphasis on throwing, catching, hitting and sportsmanship. Scores are kept at this level
• Live hitting from Coach pitcher
• 10 inch "safety" softball is used

Minors Division - Ages 8-11:  No Evaluations - No Draft

• ALL 9 and 10 year olds register here
• 8 year olds can register here; however, first year 8 year olds are encouraged to register in Coach Pitch
• 11 or 12 year olds can play Minors. 12 year olds require approved waiver
• Good starting division for those new to the sport
• First year of player pitching
• Increased player skill sets (add stealing and sliding)
• Play becomes competitive
• 11 inch regulation softball is used
• Player pitching is from 35ft

Majors Division - Ages 10-12:  Evaluations & Draft

• ALL 11 and 12 year olds register here (11 or 12 year olds can play down in Minors) 12 year olds need approved waiver
• Play becomes more aggressive and competitive
• 12” regulation softball is used
• Player pitching is from 40ft

Juniors Division - Ages 12-15:  Evaluations & Draft 

• ALL 13 and 14 year olds register here. 12 year olds can register if they want to tryout
• Returning 15 year olds can register here. They are not eligible for all star participation, nor are they allowed to pitch in the regular season. New 15 year olds to our league, must be evaluated
• On-deck batter is allowed
• More aggressive play
• Teams allowed to play double-headers
• 12 inch regulation softball is used
• Player pitching is from 43ft (High School regulation)

All players requesting to play up are automatically subject to a safety review.
